The Team

Hi, we are Carl and Gerli, a husband-and-wife team, who are passionate in creating beautiful functional high-quality carpentry and joinery products.

While working in the construction and manufacturing industry for over 20 years, it was not until the global Covid-19 pandemic that gave Carl the push to start his own carpentry business. Before we knew it, our diary was filled with exciting projects. We have been busy ever since delivering full carpentry and joinery services for domestic and commercial properties throughout Swansea and surrounding South Wales.

Our master carpenter Carl lives and breathes woodwork and spends the majority of his free time creating custom handmade pieces for home (and watching films in the toilet from his smartphone, embarrassing right!). Carl achieved a City and Guilds qualification in Carpentry and Joinery in 1994, specialising in hand-made furniture making. He then worked in furniture manufacture, making chairs and tables, wardrobes, doors, beds, and much more. In addition,  Carl has extensive experience in manufacturing a range of high-quality wooden and uPVC windows for many years. The majority of our maintenance side of work involves installing and refurbishing windows of all styles.  

Gerli, a co-founder of  Carl`s Carpentry & Maintenance Service Ltd has always had a fascination with how things are made and the techniques used to create beautiful functional joinery products. As a niece of carpenters, Gerli spent much time in her childhood in carpentry workshops in rural Estonia watching her uncles hand-building traditional Nordic log cabins. With experience in academic research and teaching, she is uniquely skilled in ensuring everything is organised and running smoothly. Gerli is the creative brain of the business and an expert “supertasker” managing the branding, marketing, accounts, and operations here at Carl`s Carpentry & Maintenance Service Ltd. Her "superpower" is attention to detail and no project gets signed off without her scrutiny and approval as she believes customers deserve the best service possible.

We constantly work to improve our skills and ways of working by combining traditional methods with new techniques while looking after the environment.  We are members of the British Woodworking Federation. We keep up-to-date with the latest guidelines to ensure our craftsmanship meets the highest standards possible.
